MBBS in USA or UK
Okay, so i am a high school student wanting to study medicine.
I know that in Australia the course for the MBBS is a 4 year course and after that you would have to do your internship and residency. I also understand this to be the same in the UK.
However in the USA I understand that universities there require you to have done an undergraduates degree before applying to med school which takes another 4 years. So in total the process there before you get your MD would be 8 years. (4 undergrad + 4 med school)
Then AFTER your get your MD you gotta do internship and residency.
Why is it in the US it takes so much longer to finally get your MD than the MBBS in the UK or Australia? Or am i missing something here?
Pursuing Medical degrees in USA is extremely challenging in terms of competition and financial investment, but if you have a zeal and have dedication to make a difference in Medical Science, it's the best one shot should take.
